The free flight line must be attached to the harness first – only then should the rubber strap used for carrying the parrot be detached. This ensures that the parrot is secured at all times and prevents accidental release.
The flight line is wound on a spool, which can be comfortably carried in the hand, in a pocket, or in a bag. The length of the line to be unwound depends on the training stage and is up to each individual:
- Beginners may use only 5 to 15 meters, depending on the needs and experience of the parrot.
- More experienced parrots can gradually be allowed the full length of up to 45 meters.

The spool is not secured at the end from the factory. The end of the line must always be securely fastened near the spool – for example, with a strong knot or another reliable method.
